Privacy Policy

Last Updated: February 14th, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how URLert Discuss ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you participate in our community discussion platform. URLert Discuss acts as a community-driven reputation layer for web domains.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information to facilitate community discussion and maintain the integrity of our security insights.

1.1 Public Community Content

Any content you submit—including discussion posts, incident reports, and comments—is intended for public consumption. This content is stored in our database and associated with either your registered account or an anonymous identifier.

1.2 Identity & Identification

  • Registered Accounts: If you log in using a URLert account, we use your existing account information (email address) to link your contributions.
  • Anonymous Guest Access: To allow participation without an account while preventing automated abuse, we generate a Browser Fingerprint Hash. This is a unique identifier derived from your browser's technical characteristics. It allows us to associate posts with a unique "guest" identity without collecting personal identity data like your name or actual location.
  • Security Data (Altcha): We use Altcha, a self-hosted, privacy-focused alternative to traditional captchas. Altcha performs a Proof-of-Work check on your device and does not use tracking cookies or transmit personal data to third parties.

2. AI Moderation & Communication Integrity

To maintain a high-quality community and filter out the bias and spam that often plague discussion platforms, we utilize AI-driven moderation.

  • AI Processing: All submitted text is processed by AI models to evaluate relevance, detect toxicity, and identify potential manipulation or bot-generated spam.
  • Bias Filtering: Our AI moderation specifically looks for coordinated manipulation or extreme bias to ensure the domain reputation remains objective and useful for other users.
  • Pending State: New submissions are held in a "Pending" state until AI verification is complete.

3. How We Use Information

  • Community Intelligence: To build a public, human-driven map of domain safety and reputation.
  • Education: To allow victims of scams to share their experiences and help others learn from those encounters.
  • Spam Prevention & Rate Limiting: We use IP hashes and fingerprint hashes to enforce rate limits (stored temporarily in Redis) to prevent platform manipulation.

4. Data Sharing & Security

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

  • URLert Network: Information shared on URLert Discuss may be integrated into the main URLert threat intelligence engine to improve automated detection patterns.
  • Manual Review: Submissions flags or reported content may be reviewed by human administrators to resolve disputes or verify high-confidence reports.

5. Retention and Erasure

  • Public Contributions: Posts and reports are retained as part of the community's historical record.
  • Account Deletion: Registered users can request account deletion. In such cases, we may anonymize your public contributions by removing the link to your specific user ID while keeping the content itself to maintain the continuity of discussions.
